  • In the submissions, they look for personality, uniqueness, and being brave with what you are communicating and using to do this.
  • Own stories and own ideas
  • Instagram- treat it like an online portfolio
  • Twitter (not so much)
  • Email- ask to meet for advice, work comes first.
  • L cafe art fair.
  • belona book fair Italy.
  • Trends that are happening at the moment:
  • Editorial
  • Illustrated nonfiction
  • Year of the women
  • Tips:
  • Persistence
  • Keep creating your own work - self-initiated briefs.
  • Don't be shy about creating stories.
  • INTERNING !!!
  • Get to know what they look for.
  • Approach small mags that you like.
  • Submission details of work.
  • When emailing It's nice that - lead with an image or two images, link.
  • If you could - it's nice that.co.uk
  • PDF or website for personal projects.
  • Looking into other paths, interning at it's nice that could be really good! It would give me an experiment in creative editorial and understand how being a creative can work in that environment.
