Gerry encouraged me to email her after she has seen some of my work and I had given her a print. Then after her visits I have decided to ask if I could interview her for PPP. I initial struggled with what to put in the email and how to phrase it but once I had researched more into what the New Statesman was about and the aim of there Magazine I found it much easier. So once I got into the flow of writing it I found that I was talking about current issues and it helped me realise the vastness of all types of journalism and editorial , for example the toddlers invading the BBC interview to the U.S travel bans that have or are being threatened to be put in place by trump. And how them ordinary man in the coffee shop needs to know and understand these issues and why it is happening. This relates to the New Statesman's main aim ' To analyse and explain the defining political, economic, geopolitical and cultural events and ideas shaping and changing the world today.' - New Statesman.
At the end of the email I sent her some more work , I put together a 3 page PDF with an image on each as there were specific pieces that I thought she would be interested in and also I want to show her my Batsford prize entry as well and this cannot be posted on instargram. Which is a shame because it is one if my more colourful images as my instargram is mainly black and white. So I just wanted to show that I can still work with colour.
Hoping for a responses soon. I am also going to try and get contacts off her of people who I can contact myself. I am aiming for around 2 interviews for this module.
