Popshot Magazine is a reliably new magazine as it was founded in 2008 but is become increasing popular and has already been taking a vast amount of interest.
The key idea behind that magazine initially was that it was a mix of poetry and illustration , that combined both to a designed format. So was essentially a poetry magazine, but since it has increased in its popularity it has developed for a British publication to an international publication. It also now published short storied from new and up-coming writers , flash fiction and these sit along side illustration commissioned from serval collaborators. 24 countries now distribute this magazine including , Australia, Hong Kong, Sweden, Newzeland and Germany.
I have had a subscription to this magazine for a while now and the issues don't come out that often , 2-3 issues a year but when they do some of the illustration and the stories are really good. And it is only recently that I have seen the relevance that this magazine could have to my practise and potential profession. I remember when Gerry was giving me feedback on my work she said that it would be ideal for creative editorial , and this is what Popshot is a full publication of creative editorial. They do have open submissions for illustrators to submit there work to. I am going to do this over the summer. One of my aims over the break is to keep setting myself briefs and answering different news stories and short stories in order to improve my thinking when it comes to concepts and context also my overall approach I take to making images.
